Meet the Teacher

I'm Emily Mott and teaching music is a pleasure for me. I am passionate about connecting with my students, encouraging their enthusiasm as music-makers and helping them to gain skills to express themselves musically.

My training is formal and informal: I grew up with two professional violinists as parents and many musicians elsewhere in my family. One motivation for improving my piano playing as a child was accompanying my sister, who is a student of voice. I have also studied piano, clarinet, music theory, composition and piano pedagogy and continue to further my education all the time.

In addition to private music lessons I teach Music Together, working with parents and toddlers. My other 'gigs' include teaching dance in a summer program and therapeutic horseback riding. I work with all ages and have background in working with students in special education as well. I look forward to meeting you.
